Christopher
Edward Kufner was attracted to art and the Impressionists at
a very young age. Largely self taught, he has enhanced his natural
ability to paint by traveling throughout the countries of France,
Italy, and the United States, visiting the museums and studying
the masters. He has has many one-man shows in the Midwest and
New York, and has been successful in selling his artwork to
private collectors across the United States, from the East Coast
to Hawaii, and in France, Ireland, South America, and Mexico.
What
sets Christopher's art apart is his choice of hues; often very
bright and exceptionally vivid. Yet those colors seem both natural,
and almost magnetically attractive in his oil paintings.
"I
feel quite strongly, that art should stand alone, without any
statement. A strong painting needs no explanation to accompany
it, however if I were to say anything about my paintings it
would have to be that I try to capture the spirit of a place
or person without strict regard to form or color. I prefer to
paint from life, frequently I will start a painting on location
and finish it in the studio. I feel that it is not so much a
question of painting from life, but a question of putting life
into the paintings."
